The sub-series also includes a nominal index and geographical index to Indian and Ordnance Land Patents, 1867-1960. These indexes are available on microfilm only, 2 reels; M-1011 and M-3693.
The index book to Indian and Ordnance land patents (1845-1867, volume 911, reel M-1638) contains two indexes. The first index is a geographical index arranged in alphabetical order. Included in it is the name of the grantee, the date of the patent, the number of acres granted, the liber (register) and the folio (page) where a copy of the relevant document may be located. Once the liber is known, one must find the volume number and the microfilm reel number assigned to it in order to locate a copy of the document. This may be done by using the conversion list which is finding aid 68-2.
The second index to Indian and Ordnance (1845-1867, volume 911, reel M-1638) is a nominal listing in rough alphabetical order to the names which appeals in the previous index. It provides the page number in the first index and the line number on the page where each name is located.
The index book to Indian and ordnance land patents (1867-1960) also contains two indexes both of which are available on microfilm only (reels M-1011 and M-3693). The first index is a nominal listing in rough alphabetical order to the names of grantees.
