General Note:

Collection of 95 items, consisting chiefly of 90 portraits of patriotes and others done by Girouard while in prison in Montréal during the rebellion of 1837-1838. Also included is a view of the ruins of Saint-Benoit by Girouard, a portrait of Dr. J.O. Chénier by Andre Jobin and two lithographs by patriote publisher Napoléon Aubin.., Of the ninety portraits by Girouard, 87 are of patriotes, including Amable Badeam, Pierre Amiot, Dominique Charland, Francois Bourassa, etc.; three other portraits are of the jailkeeper, the prison book keeper and a New York publisher..
