Canada. Parliament. House of Commons. Select Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections Regarding the Alleged Sale to the Government by G. Loy, M.P., of Certain Property in Valleyfield as a Site for a Public Building : On 22 July 1903, Frederick Monk, Conservative Member of Parliament for Jacques-Cartier and Chief of the Conservative Party in Québec, demanded that the Select Standing Committee on Privileges and Elections examine the allegation that George Loy, Liberal Member for Beauharnois, had unduly profited from the sale of lands to the Government. Monk alleged that the contentious property had a real assessed value of ,800 and was sold to the Government in 1903 for 0,000. The Committee presented its report to the House on 4 August 1903 and exonerated Loy of any wrongdoing. Monk's proposed amendment reversing this decision was soundly rejected by a vote of 105 to 40. 1903 Journals of the House of Commons
