Federal Interdepartmental Pesticide Committee (Canada) : The Federal Interdepartmental Committee on Pesticides was created by the Federal Cabinet in 1964. Chaired by the Assistant Deputy Minister (Research) of the Department of Agriculture, it originally consisted of representatives from Fisheries, Forestry, National Defence, National Health and Welfare, Northern Affairs and National Resources, and the National Research Council. Reflecting changes in the structure of the federal government, it later consisted of representatives from Agriculture Canada, Consumer and Corporate Affairs, National Defence, Environment Canada, Fisheries and Oceans, Health and Welfare Canada, and the National Research Council. The Committee's mandate was to review problems associated with pesticides. Having no executive, legal, or mandatory powers, it was a purely advisory and consultative body.
