The records consist of reports submitted to the Corporation covering such topics as site design, advertising, construction, traffic patterns, building designs, tourism, general site development and trends and attitudes after the opening day. Also included here are contract files and specifications relating to major construction projects (mass transportation, bridges, theme buildings), preliminary engineering, master plans, art work, sculptures, and models.
Canadian Corporation for the 1967 World Exhibition. Department of Installations : The Department of Installations was formed in October 1963. The Director of Installations was responsible to the General Manager of the Corporation and he was a member of the Management Committee, under the chairmanship of the General Manager. As the technical authority, the Director of Installations reported directly to the Deputy Commissioner General. The Department of Installations co- ordinated the activities of five branches: Architectural, Construction, Engineering, Maintenance, and Theme. The Department of Installations was responsible for all aspects of planning, including landscaping, architectural and engineering design of the emplacement, buildings, bridges, transit systems and general services, such as construction supervision, planning and providing maintenance during the Exhibition. The Department of Installations also exercised general aesthetic and technical control over the physical development of the exhibition site, was responsible for the development and design of Theme Buildings and Theme Exhibits, and assisted and advised exhibitors on design and construction requirements, costs and business practices in Canada.
