Quebec, Lower Canada, Upper Canada, Canada. Governor. Despatches to and from the Colonial Office : In Lower Canada, Indian Affairs were under military authority prior to 1800. Instructions dated 16 July 1800 invested in "the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, or the Person administering the Government" of Lower Canada the administration of Indian Affairs in that Province. By General Order of 13 May 1816, Indian Affairs in Lower Canada were placed under the control of the Commander of the Forces. RG10 General Inventory
