The journals describe Taylor's religious background and most particularly, the circumstances surrounding the Manitoba Schools Question.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Taylor, Thomas Wardlaw, b. 1833 : Born in Scotland in 1833, Thomas Wardlaw Taylor, judge, was a graduate of the University of Edinburgh. Taylor emigrated to Canada and was called to the Upper Canada Bar in 1858. Having relocated in Manitoba, he was appointed to the Manitoba Bar in 1890, then to the Court of Queen's Bench in Manitoba becoming Chief Justice of Manitoba. After being best known in Ontario and Scotland for his position in Presbyterian Church disputes, he became best known in Manitoba for the Riel and Manitoba Separate Schools Question.Additional information:General note:Presented in 1985 by C.G.
