Item is a document dated 10 February 1794, written in response to representatives of the Seven Nations of Lower Canada as well as of the Indigenous nations represented at the general council held at Miami Rapids in 1783. Guy Carleton, Lord Dorcester notes his own promises prior to his 1783 departure for England that he would press their claims on the King as to peace with the United States and as to a boundary line between the U.S. and themselves; states that the Americans had not settled on a line and were acting in a manner likely to lead to war; and discusses the request of the nations for passports to New York City and their intentions to sell their land to the State of New York.
