Plante, Raymond, 1947-2006 : Écrivain, scénariste, journaliste et éditeur, Raymond Plante (1947-2006) est un pilier de la culture et de la littérature pour la jeunesse québécoise et de la francophonie canadienne des années 1970 aux 2000. Au début des années 1970, il a d'abord enseigné au primaire puis est devenu journaliste culturel (Liberté, La nouvelle barre du jour, La Presse) et enfin scénariste à la radio et à la télévision. Prolifique, il a rédigé entre 1975 et 1985, près d'un millier de textes d'émissions radiophoniques et d'émissions de télévision, autant pour enfants que pour adultes, dont Pop-Citrouille, L'Ingénieux Don Quichotte et Minibus (Prix ANIK 1988), Du tac au tac et des dramatiques dans le cadre de la série Les Beaux dimanches à Radio-Canada. Il a écrit les paroles de plus de 400 chansons et écrit une quarantaine de livres pour la jeunesse et pour adultes. Il a enseigné la littérature (roman policier, littérature jeunesse) à l'Université du Québec à Montréal et a offert des ateliers d'écriture. Il a aussi été conférencier dans plus de 1400 écoles et bibliothèques canadiennes ou étrangères. Son roman Le dernier des raisins (Prix du Conseil des Arts du Canada 1988, certificat d'honneur de l'IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People 1988), traduit en six langues, se démarque parmi ses oeuvres les plus marquantes. C'est par ce roman que Plante introduit la « littérature-miroir » dans le roman québécois pour la jeunesse, c'est-à-dire une littérature reflétant la réalité des adolescents sans jugement moralisateur. Parmi ses autres livres marquants, notons Monsieur Genou (prix belgo-québécois 1982), La Machine à beauté (Prix de l'ACELF 1982), Le Roi de rien (Prix de l'ACELF 1988) et L'Étoile a pleuré rouge (Prix du livre M. Christie 1995). Il a également écrit une biographie de son ami Robert Gravel, Les pistes du cheval indompté (400 coups, 2004), le fondateur de la Ligue nationale d'improvisation. Gravel a souvent participé à ses émissions de télévision et les deux ont collaboré, souvent avec Marcel Sabourin, à des projets d'écriture pour la radio et la télévision. Raymond Plante est reconnu pour avoir renouvelé le roman pour adolescents dans les années 1980 et 1990 et pour avoir formé une génération d'écrivains en tant qu'éditeur aux Éditions Québec/Amérique (1982-1988), aux Éditions du Boréal (1989-1994) et aux Éditions Les 400 coups. Il a également été directeur de la revue Lurelu (1987-1989).
Raymond Plante a reçu de nombreuses distinctions pendant sa carrière. Il a été l'invité d'honneur du Salon du livre de Montréal en 1988, a reçu un Félix pour le disque pour enfants Robin et Stella des Inséparables en 1993 et a reçu la médaille d'or du rayonnement culturel de La Renaissance française en 1997. En son honneur, la Fête du livre de Longueuil a créé en 2007 le Prix Raymond-Plante visant à reconnaître l'engagement dans le domaine de l'éducation, du livre ou de la littérature jeunesse. La Ville de Montréal a nommé une Place Raymond-Plante dans l'arrondissement Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie.
