Research Branch : In 1968, a Research Division was established to carry out Section 15 of the Act, which stated that the Canadian Transport Commission should conduct studies and research and prepare reports in order to fulfil an advisory role to the government on all aspects of transport policy (Canadian Transport Commission Annual Report 1968). In 1977, the Research Branch and the newly established Traffic and Tariffs Branch were placed under the administrative control of a Vice-President, known as Vice-President (Research) (Canadian Transport Commission Annual Report 1977).
