The records include every aspect of shipping operations including wages, passenger manifests, ordering, construction and sale of ships, accident investigations and repairs, technical data, tariffs and freight rates, time tables, personnel and labor relation records, ships plans, reports and accounts, crew lists, journals and ledgers.
Though primarily textual in nature, there are some photographs, artwork, and maps mixed in. Vols. 17380 contain berthing plans for T.S.S. Prince Henry, Prince David, Prince Robert. Vol. 17381 contains a Cabin Plan for R.M.S. Lady Rodney, Lady Somers.Additional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the sub-series.Arrangement note:This sub-series does not represent a single creator but originates with most of the Canadian National shipping companies and their predecessors. The records are intermingled and have proved impossible to separate. The researcher may wish to consult other descriptive records within the fonds that pertain to individual shipping companies.Accruals:No further accruals are expected.Related material:Related materials may be found in the Canadian National Subsidiary Companies series.
