Following the Second World War, a duplex numeric classification system was introduced. This central registry system gradually replaced the old subject files between 1945-1950; however, in many instances files under the old system were simply assigned new registry file numbers, which accounts for the many files in this sub-series pre-dating the Second World War. Subjects covered are airmail and railway service, wartime and post-war operations, international communications, service disruptions, postal censorship, equipment, organization, the Eastern Arctic Patrol, rural mail delivery, letter carrier delivery, postage meters, research and development, Newfoundland and Labrador boundary, Imperial Conferences, Dominion-Provincial Conferences, Postal Conferences, parcel post, rate structures, production of postage stamps and philatelic products, Prisoner of War Mail, franking machines and privileges, slogans, postcards, standardization of envelope sizes, lottery tickets, insurance, the centenary of confederation, strikes and union matters, mechanization, uniforms, isolated posts, Royal tours, transportation services, operating orders, and advisory committees.Finding aid:Textual records (Electronic) The finding aid is a typed file list indicating volume number, file title and outside dates for volumes 3392-3424, 3430-3435.
