This sub-series consists of printed material collected by the staff of the Canadian War Records Office (CWRO). The materials were produced by various Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) formations and units either waiting to be deployed to Britain and Europe, or others already serving overseas under the command of the Overseas Military Forces of Canada (OMFC).The printed materials consist of newsletters and magazines published by CEF formations and units (including one division, one brigade, and numerous battalions, batteries, hospitals, and training schools). Many of the publications produced by the battalions are actually officially sanctioned "Battalion Histories" and/or "Souvenir" booklets, many of which are pictorial in nature. Also included are programmes for galas, choir performances, and memorial services / ceremonies held in Britain and Europe for the Canadian Forces. There are also a variety of programmes pertaining to various Canadian-sponsored sporting events being held overseas, as well as programmes for numerous overseas Dominion Day sporting celebrations. Finally, the sub-series contains some leaflets circulated to troops prior to the 1917 general election. While the vast majority of the material in this sub-series was produced between 1915 and 1919, there are three issues of "The Fortyniner (nos. 32, 36, and 41) in volume 5078 which were produced in 1941, 1943, and 1945 respectively.
