Fonds consists of four letters from Ross Robertson, founder of the Toronto Evening Telegram, to E.T.D. Chambers concerning Robertson's collection of Canadian art.
Chambers, E. T. D. (Edward Thomas Davies), 1852-1931 : Edward Chambers, born in Essex, England, came to Canada in 1870. He was principal of the Model School, St. Andrews, Que., and at the Academy in Granby, Que. He later turned to journalism establishing the newspaper, Progress, in St. Andrews, and joining the staff of the Quebec Daily Chronicle. He became the Chronicle's editor-in-chief in 1897. He later edited several other journals and contributed articles on early Canadian history, hunting, fishing, and the scenery of Northern Quebec to numerous periodicals. He served as an alderman in Quebec, 1884-1894, and as president of the Quebec Press Gallery. He also served on the Champlain Celebration Committee, 1906, and the Quebec Tercentenary Celebration Committee, 1908.
