Fonds consists of the records of the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German and, as such, contains its constitution and by-laws; minutes, reports and correspondence pertaining to annual, executive and committee meetings; its financial records as well as its correspondence with government and associations concerned with the Arts or German language instruction in Canada. The fonds also consists of lists of staff members in German Departments at Canadian universities, general membership lists and lists of graduate students in Germanic studies at Canadian universities in the scholastic year 1964-1965. Furthermore, the fonds includes records relating to "Seminar", a journal published by the CAUTG, bibliographies and newsletters as well as the records of the Ontario Association of Teachers of German which was subsumed by the CAUTG.

Canadian Association of University Teachers of German : An outgrowth of local and provincial organizations, including the Ontario Association of Teachers of German, the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German (CAUTG) was established in 1961 to promote the study of German at Canadian schools and universities. Since its inception, the association has served as a forum for the discussion of professional and administrative matters relating to German language instruction at Canadian schools and universities. It has helped to structure course outlines in German, has prepared and circulated teaching aids, and has sponsored student and professor exchanges.
