Cartaret, Priaulx and Company : Cartaret, Priaulx and Company of Guernsey, Channel Islands, was a trading firm associated with the Arichat Gaspé Society. Their closest associate was the Janvrin Company, which had the major interest in the Gaspé establishment. Newfoundland was the meeting place of the fleets and at times when the Janvrin Company was busy with the Gaspé trade, the Priaulx agents in Newfoundland would despatch the Janvrin ships, as well as those of the Priaulx firm to Central America, South America and the Mediterranean as the best trading opportunities presented themselves.
