Biography/Administrative history:

Duquid, Archer Fortescue, 1887- : Colonel Archer Fortescue Duquid, military officer and historian, born in 1887 at Aberdeenshire, Scotland, received his education from Fettes College, Edinburgh, Scotland and McGill University, B.Sc., 1912. He served in World War I and was chairman of the General Advisory Committee on Demobilization and Rehabilitation. He was Director of the Army Historical Section, 1921-1947, when he wrote the first volume of the 2 volume official, History of the Canadian Forces in the Great War 1914-1919.
