Fonds consists of correspondence with J.B. Challies concerning Byllesby's installation, between 1882-1884, of some of the first electrical systems in Canada, including those of the Parliament buildings in Ottawa.

Byllesby, Henry Marison, 1859-1924 : Henry M. Byllesby, born in 1859 at Pittsburgh, Penn., was educated at Lehigh University. In 1881 he joined the recently formed Edison Electric Company and from 1882 to 1884 he worked in Canada, installing electrical systems for the company. Later he left the Edison Company and became associated with the Westinghouse Electric Company of Pittsburgh. In 1891 he resigned as vice-president of Westinghouse and formed his own firm, H.M. Byllesby, and Company, Engineers, of Chicago. During the first World War Byllesby, was Purchasing Agent in Britain and the Scandanavian countries for the American Expeditionary Force.
