The Amateur Cinema League of Toronto plays "The Highwayman" from the poem by Alfred Noyes. The cast of characters include N. Pelletier as one of the soldiers and as cameraman with Gérard Pelletier. Amateur actors and play: a mounted officer in wig and britches (early 1800?) has a dulcinee at the village pub whom he woes late at night from under her window. The girl belongs to the enemy and their rendez-vous must be kept secret. He is denounced by a jealous rival and an army troup seize and tie the girl standing in her own bedroom with a gun attached to her left side aiming at her heart. They all wait for the return of the officer: if she would scream at him to keep away, the gun would be fired at her. When she hears the steps of the horse approaching, she herself manages to fire the gun and the shot warns her lover to remain at bay. <14mn>
