Recording of the opening speeches of the XIV Congress of the Universal Postal Union held in Ottawa on October 14, 1957. Includes opening speeches by the Right Honourable John G. Diefenbaker, Prime Minister of Canada; Postmaster General William Hamilton; and Sir Dudley Lumley, Dean of the Congress. This collection also has recordings of speeches by Michael Warren, President of Canada Post Corporation, excerpts of newscasts on Canada Post and related news items, proceedings of the International Postal Mechanization Conference, and the opening of the National Postal Museum.
