Grainger, Percy, 1882-1961 : Composer, pianist, conductor and publisher born in Australia, Percy Grainger moved to the United States in 1914, teaching piano at Chicago Musical College (1919-28). From 1932 to 1933 he was chairman of the music department at New York University. He was guest artist with the Schubert Choir in 1933 and 1937, and also one of the first guest artists with the Musical Art Club, of which he was honourary president until his death.
