Television public affairs program with host Frank Willis. Program features two separate items: Bob Quintrell interviews American silent film comedian, Harold Lloyd, who discusses the following topics: his childhood desire to become an actor; the making of a picture without a script; the early days of film; television today; his 20 acre estate (footage of the grounds is shown) and his hobbies. There are clips of his films SAFETY LAST, MONKEY BUSINESS and HOT WATER, with Lloyd providing some voiceover commentary. Outline of Tim Buck's career as leader and founder of the Communist Party of Canada, with footage of his month-long speaking tour across Canada to mark the Party's 40th birthday. Personalities include: Jacob Penner, 82-year-old veteran Winnipeg alderman; William Ross, Manitoba Communist Party leader; Les Edwards, CFOC television interviewer; Walter Mackaveky, Alberta Communist Party organizer; Nigel Morgan top Communist on the west coast; Harold Pritchett, Communist Party vice chairman for British Columbia; Charles Caron, provincial organizer; William Stewart, Vancouver city organizer; and Tom Mcewen, provincial chairman. Topics discussed by Buck on his tour include: Russia's resumption of nuclear testing; Communism and Cuba; the exchange of U2 pilot, Gary Powers for Soviet spy Rudolf Abel; the Party's membership size; socialism, progress and peace; the objective of the Party to create a working class government with a working class Prime Minister for Canada; the superficial difference between the Communist Party in Russia and that in China; and his penitentiary days. Footage also features: a woman party member named, Ma Katura, reminiscing on the time she met Buck as a young man; and the mining town of Blairmore, Alberta. In addition, Frank Willis interviews Paul Fox, political science professor from the University of Toronto, about why Communism is not popular in Canada.
