This film outlines the production of nickel from the Sudbury, Ontario district from the early days of prospecting to the most recent processes of nickel production. Sequences deal with magnetic airborne surveying and ground exploration; mine planning and development; methods of underground mining; the smelting of massive and disseminated ores at Inco's Port Colborne, Ontario plant; electrolytic refining of nickel and copper; and nickel refining by the carbonyl (or Mond) process at the Clydach refinery near Swansea, Wales. The film includes a laboratory demonstration of the carbonyl process, looks forward to the further development of Inco's new project at Thompson, Manitoba, and pays tribute to Inco employees. <30mn>
