Television documentary report on the physiological and social effects of the drug lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Clips of brain cells undergoing changes after exposure to the chemical are described by Dr. Harold Abramson who outlines the dangers and problems associated with illegal use of LSD. Freelance photographer Larry Schiller, who recently completed a cover story on LSD for Life magazine, discusses the chemical's potency and widespread availability. Footage of young LSD users at a party and film clips of a speech by Richard Blum in California who warns that the problem is epidemic. Long-time LSD user and advocate Richard Alpert describes his experiences. Dr. Timothy Leary, a self proclaimed visionary prophet and LSD advocate, discusses the chemical's socially beneficial effects from his estate in New York. Guests gathered at the estate attend 'psychedelic sessions' and relate their experiences. Additional commentary from Leary's assistant, Dr. Ralph Metaner, and Canadian researcher, Dr. Abraham Hoffer.
