The story of the Polish armed forces in exile during WWII.~The film starts with the end of the war showing celebrations in London, the Royal family, and a speech by Churchill. Sequences then cut back to pre-war Warsaw, Cracow, and the Vistula River. German war plants are shown disgorging armaments. Footage shows the invasion of Poland and the capture of Warsaw with Hitler present on 17 September 1939. The invasion of France and the fall of Paris are shown briefly. The Polish army is shown training in Scotland, in Russia, and fighting in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Polish warships are seen protecting convoys with shots of sea battles. Polish airmen are shown in the Battle of Britain taking part in bombing raids with sequences on aerial battles including gun-camera footage. General Sikorsky is seen decorating troops, signing a peace treaty with Stalin and Molotov, and reviewing his troops in Africa days before his death. Sequences are shown on the Battle of Monte Cassino; a visit by Field Marshal Montgomery; preparations for D-Day; and the battles for Caen, Falaise, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. The Poles liberate Breda and host General Eisenhower. They capture Wilhelmshaven days before Germany's surrender. The film ends with Churchill announcing the end of the war and a picture of Queen Elizabeth with "God Save the Queen". <49mn 40s>
