Scrapbook was created by Elizabeth (Betty) Clunie based on her time serving as a Nursing Sister during Second World War (1939-1944). The scrapbook includes locations where she was posted and visited. The photographs of her postings include views of the grounds, exteriors of the buildings, staff, parties, as well as some views of surgeries and dispensaries in which she worked. Her postings included No. 17 Canadian General Hospital at Pinewood in England, and the CGH at Ghent, in Belgium. Subjects include Christmas dinners or other parties; surgeries, dispensaries and hospital ships; marriages of nursing sisters; VE Day celebrations in Ghent; nursing sisters and personnel; and extensive travel and tourist views. Few of the photographs concern patients. There is also one map of Ghent, several postcards of various places in Europe including one of Vimy Ridge, Le Mémorial Canadien and several photocopies of diary entries (D Day) and correspondence in the album. There are also some photographs of Clunie from her later years re-visiting Europe including grave sites, family photographs, and VE Day ceremony at War Memorial in Ottawa in 1993.

General note:

Scrapbook is bound, but some pages are falling out. Some photographs have fallen out of the album and been placed in plastic sleeves.
