From the interview: "In terms of indigenous thought, human beings and plants and animals and place are all one entity and are an expression of the same life force, if you will. In most indigenous epistemologies, you have a recognition that human beings are a part of the natural world and are intimately intertwined with all of its processes. So hence, there is a sense or a reciprocal, mutual responsibility for how you work and how you act and how you think in regard to the natural world. It's always an integration versus a dichotomy."

From The Green Interview website: Dr. Gregory Cajete, a Native American educator from New Mexico, and an eloquent expositor of the aboriginal understanding of the "nature of nature."

Gregory is a Native American educator whose work is dedicated to honouring the foundations of indigenous knowledge in education. Dr. Cajete is a Tewa Indian from Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico. He has pioneered reconciling indigenous perspectives in sciences with a Western academic setting.

Cajete earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and sociology from New Mexico Highlands University, with a minor in secondary education. After completing his Masters of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico he aspired to continue his studies there.
