File is a single, un-numbered, file containing a variety of correspondence and departmental memoranda relating to undelivered land warrants issued to members of the militia who participated in the Red River Expedition, and to members of the North-West Mounted Police (RG15 volume 3170). The file jacket indicates that these documents are draft copies of records filed under 1993280. The latter is a central registry file entitled "List of the Red River Rebellion Land Warrant, 1909-1948." It is found in the central registry of the Dominion Lands Branch (MIKAN record number 134033). Since a number of these records either originate with the Lands Patent Branch and are signed by N.O. Coté, the Controller, or originate elsewhere and are addressed to Mr. Coté, it is likely that the file was created and/or used by Mr. Coté in his capacity as a senior administrator with the Dept. of the Interior. The file was found with several other un-numbered files which are also believed to have been created and/or used by Coté (see MIKAN record number 156360). Many of the records in this draft file are annotated.
