This series contains records related to Joan Murray's activities and career in writing and the publication of her work, especially on Canadian art and artists. Included are research files, correspondence, contracts, proposals, clippings and articles. Works covered include "Best of the Group of Seven," "The Best of Contemporary Canadian Art," "Northern Lights," "Canadian art in the twentieth century," "Home Truths," and others. The series also contains Murray's clipping books of articles.

The series also includes university work and juvenilia by Murray, including her Columbia University Master's thesis, undergraduate and graduate level reviews and articles, poetry and stories.
