First accession: Series contains recordings, transcripts, notes, manuscripts and correspondence from Brand's projects concerning Black history, in particular Black women's history using oral history interviewing, and her scholarly work concerning Black women's history. Among these projects are: the earliest Black history project Brand was involved in through an Opportunities for Youth Grant in 1973 Blacks in Canada, the 1850's; No Burden to Carry which grew out of An Oral History of Black Women in Ontario which Brand wrote with Lois de Shield; research and coursework for Masters' research at OISE; initial research on a PhD on editor Maryann Shadd (-Cary); and interviews of members of the Canadian Negro Women's Association. The film Older, Stronger, Wiser also grew from Brand's work on An Oral History of Black Women in Ontario and No Burden to Carry.

Third accession: series contains an essay on an Iklem headdress Brand wrote for the ROM and a clipping from NYT Magazine.
