Records were originally part of the Office of the Prime Minister (PMO) shared network drive. Sometimes referred to as the S-Drive or PMO-Common, the PMO shared network drive was divided in two parts to maintain Government of Canada security requirements for storing protected and classified material. These two parts were known as the Protected B Network (BNet) for files rated Protected B and lower, and the Secure Network (CabNet) for classified (e.g., Secret) files. PMO employees had access to both networks; however, each PMO unit applied access restrictions to their respective folders. PMO units maintained records in both the BNet and CabNet environments. During archival processing, Office of the Principal Secretary records from these two environments were arranged and described together in this series.
