The recommended daily intake is 30 milligrams per day for an adult. Fresh citrus fruits and many vegetables contain vitamin C naturally. But let's look at some of the other sources. Two of the least expensive sources of vitamin C are canned vitaminized apple juice and orange flavor crystals. Both of these contain suffi¬cient quantities of vitamin C in 1/2 cup to meet the daily needs and cost only pennies per serving. Canned orange juice, which is an excellent source of vitamin C, is more expensive than orange flavor crystals but is much less expensive than fresh orange juice. Remember that except for natural citrus fruit juices, frozen or canned, other products do not contain vitamin C unless it has been added.
