This episode of Talk Radio, a popular election campaign program, sees CPAC join with the phone-in radio program Backtalk, hosted by Bill Rowe, on the VOCM station out of St. John's, N.L. On this special telecast episode, Canadians can join Rowe's broadcast from anywhere in the country, which will give them a chance to talk to each other about political issues. The program begins with Rowe explaining some of the key election issues in Newfoundland and Labrador to CPAC host Peter Van Dusen. Some of these issues include Newfoundland and Labrador's diminishing social and economic clout in Canada under the Liberal government; the Liberal government's move of weather forecasting services to Nova Scotia; the lack of a federal presence in the province; and custodial management of fisheries. The program continues with calls from all over the country and footage of behind-the-scenes activity during program breaks at the radio station. One of the callers is Conservative Party Leader Stephen Harper, who discusses the risk of his platform announcements being forgotten over the holidays; the lack of accuracy in the polls; and the Conservatives' plans for child care and for fisheries. <122mn>
