M.V ARCTIC Ice Navigation Support Exercise, 1985.” The overall project objective was to ensure a safe and efficient passage of the M.V. ARCTIC to and from Bent Horn oil field, and to provide strategic and real-time tactical information on the ice conditions required by the vessel's master and CCGN's Pollution Prevention Officer. The M.V ARCTIC successfully completed the voyage to Bert Horn between August 25 and 27, 1985. This represented the first commercial crude oil cargo lift from the high Arctic and the first successful commercial transit into ASPPR Zone 1. This project provided valuable insights on navigation into Zone 1. It was concluded, as a result of this study, that demonstration projects in the Canadian high Arctic should be continued and encouraged to gain valuable experience and to prove and develop Canadian leadership and technology in Arctic navigation and resource development. <19mn>Language:EnglishNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
