In this instance, the unifying theme of this sub-series is related to the functions, work and activities of the Cabinet and constrained by the period of time that Allan J. MacEachen was appointed President of the Privy Council for the second time, from 1970 to 1974. This sub-series is dominated by four sets of numbered Cabinet documents for 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973. These are carefully managed, confidential documents that have been prepared for Cabinet to use in its deliberations and decision-making and are strewn throughout the MacEachen fonds. Also included in this sub-series are documents relating to policies and programs, legislation, bills, priorities and planning, background reports and analyses, various committee records and Cabinet agendas, motions, memoranda and decisions.
