Concerned about the state of the women's movement in Canada, Rosemary Speirs, Donna Dasko, Libby Burnham and Christina McCall founded Equal Voice in May of 2001 as a modern equivalent of the defunct Committee for '94. Equal Voice is a national, bilingual, multi-partisan, non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes the election of more women to all levels of Canadian politics. Through public awareness campaigns, campaign schools, research, election tracking, and lobbying political parties, Equal Voice seeks to increase the numbers of women elected to public office federally, provincially and municipally.

Equal Voice encourages political parties to increase the nominations of female candidates while at the same time encouraging women to run for office through programs such as an online campaign school. Through letter-writing campaigns, legislative analysis and public messaging via their website, they promote electoral and other changes that aim to increase the number of women in politics. Equal Voice prioritizes outreach and programming to make the public aware of the impact of women's under-representation. Through their chapters and campus clubs across Canada, they bring Equal Voice's work to life in the community.
