The William Franklin Kerr collection consists of an album of photographs presented to Kerr by Lord Beaverbrook. The album commemorates an official visit made by prominent members of Canada's press to Britain and the Western Front in July 1918. The visit was part of Lord Beaverbrook's campaign, a Canadian who served as Britain's Minister of Information, to ensure that Canada's contributions to the war received favourable coverage in the national media. The photographs in the album document the stops made on the tour including at Beaverbrook's country estate, to see work done by the Canadian Forestry Corps, Red Cross units, a tour of Vimy Ridge conducted by General Sir Arthur Currie, tours of factories, aerodromes and tank grounds.

The Imperial War Museum in London, England, holds a newsreel of this visit.

Kerr, William Franklin, 1876-1968 : William Franklin Kerr was born at Goderich, Ontario on 25 October 1876. He trained as a journalist with the Winnipeg Free Press, before becoming editor of the Regina Leader in 1902. Kerr bought the Leader 1905. He sold the newspaper in 1920, and subsequently served in various provincial offices and as a Liberal Member of the Saskatchewan Legislature. Kerr was president of the Western Press Association and a charter member of the Canadian Press. Kerr died at Regina, on 11 March 1968.
