The series contains biographical notes, correspondence (1968-2000), reviews of volumes written by Jacques Castonguay and his application in 1989 for the Gala de l'Excellence of the Chambre de Commerce du Haut-Richelieu in the education category. The correspondents come from varied backgrounds: military, political, associative, educational, etc. Georges-Henri Lévesque, Jean Hamelin, Serge Bernier, Roch Carrier and Brian Mulroney are among his correspondents.

Documents from or concerning his father, Émile Castonguay, are added to this series. These are texts -- original typescripts -- of speeches delivered by Émile Castonguay in 1911 and 1912, along with numerous articles by Émile Castonguay as well as a thesis (Bio-bibliography of Émile Castonguay). It is important to note the presence of 2 travel diaries in which Jacques Castonguay describes his visits to radar stations in the Great Canadian North in 1962. There are also genealogical notes on the Castonguay family.

The series also includes 140 slides and 183 photographs : 156 photos (including copies of photographs) taken by Émile Castonguay, noncommissioned officer, in Quebec during the First World War; 9 photographs of Jacques Castonguay between 1944 and 2000; 140 slides taken by Jacques Castonguay during his trips as a psychologist to the Royal Air Force stations (radar stations and air bases); and 4 photographs taken in Quebec City at the launch of the book Dictionnaire de la psychologie, in 1972.
