This series reflects Jean-Pierre Wallot's scientific contributions in both history and archives, through articles in collective literature and publications.
As part of his work as an author, Mr. Wallot produced a number of subject files related to his research on Quebec and French Canada. The documents include, but are not limited to, handwritten notes and copies of original documents and printed materials used to write several publications and biographies of Canadians for various publishing houses. It also includes records for the Dictionary of Canadian Biography, the New Canadian Encyclopedia Publishing Ltd. and the Cahiers du Québec at HMH, which include correspondence and various versions of documents, along with the following publications: "Ideas in conflict: a selection of texts on political, economic and social questions in Lower Canada (1806-1810)" (1971) and "Les Imprimés dans le Bas Canada, 1801-1840" (1967) in collaboration with John Hare; "Patronage et Pouvoir dans le Bas-Canada 1794-1812" (1973) in collaboration with Gilles Paquet; "Un Québec qui bougeait - Trame socio-politique du Québec au tournant du XIXe siècle" (1973); "Intrigues françaises et américaines 1800-1802" (1965); "Société rurale dans la France de l'ouest et au Québec, XVIIe-XXe siècles : actes des colloques de 1979 et 1980," by Joseph Goy and Jean-Pierre Wallot, and the "Guide d'histoire du Canada," under the direction of Jacques Rouillard, particularly the section on the British regime.
The series contains documents published by Grolier as part of the American Annual Encyclopedia Year Book. The record on the volume "Les imprimés dans le Bas-Canada" contains the card commemorating the presentation of the Marie Tremaine Medal to Jean-Pierre Wallot by the Bibliographical Society of Canada (1973), and three black-and-white photographs taken at the time of the book's launch.
There is a record dealing with his application for a Killam 2000 research fellowship for his publication "Le Bas-Canada au début du XIXe siècle (1800-1812) (le Bas-Canada sous les gouvernements de Milnes, Dunn and Craig)" and a number of records related to his participation on the advisory committee and to the drafting of certain chapters of the collaborative project entitled "Histoire du livre et de l'imprimé au Canada." There are also two audiocassettes for this collaborative project, which include a seminar on the history of print in Canada. All indications are that this was the seminar held in May 1997 at the National Library of Canada. Other documents include correspondence, brochures, a newsletter, an authors guide, a table of contents, and several versions of annotated and revised texts.
This series includes correspondence, contracts, forms, news releases and clippings, publications, and summaries of each of the works and photographs.
