File consists of individual case file. Mary Carroll (nee Dixon) was a First Nations girl born in the Waswanipi area near James Bay. As a child, she was enrolled in the school for the blind in Southern Ontario. Dixon lost her Indian status when she married a blind white man (Carroll). This very large file contains extensive correspondence documenting services provided throughout the life of the client, extensive correspondence with various departments and agencies (including the Department of Indian Affairs). Of note -- the file also includes a letter written on birchbark during a visit arranged for Mary to her home community.
