This sub-series consists of coded material maintained by the Honourable Donald Johnston's ministerial office during his tenure as Treasury Board President. Subject matter includes, but is not limited to: the 6 to 5 Program; Canadair; Consolidated Computer Incorporated; Crown Corporations; government expenditure policy; national economy; regional economic development programs; and the federal government's relationship with the public service.

Included are the minister's personal coded files, which consist of personal and political correspondence; invitations, requests, and speaking notes; complaints and congratulatory messages; and other textual material. Also included are retained ministerial records from the coded President of the Treasury Board subject files, which consist of project and program information; correspondence with cabinet ministers, members of Parliament, and the Prime Minister's Office; correspondence with national stakeholders; and other textual material.

Annotations and comments made by Mr. Johnston are found throughout the records.
