This sub-sub-series consists of select records from the National Research Council's (NRC's) Communications and Corporate Relations Branch, records that were filed in the NRC's central File Information System, second version (FISv2).

Sub-sub-series consists of files pertaining to a range of activities, including but not limited to: committees, co-operation and liaison, and public affairs. For the most part, these records were selected because they document NRC policies, public statements, or presidential correspondence. For instance, the Branch's reference copies of executive speeches, 1991-1997, are included in the sub-sub-series. Also included are records documenting the NRC's public awareness activities (e.g., summer camps), sample printouts from the NRC intranet (Zone) from 2005, a detailed performance report for the Industrial Research Assistance Program from 2001-2002, a report on the role of the NRC in the Canadian Innovation System from 2007, and a draft historical account of the NRC's chemistry division.

Sub-sub-series also consists of examples of NRC-created corporate promotional materials such as posters, media packages, and participant packages for NRC-led conferences, all of which are included in various textual files.

Volume 593 consists of 8 posters: three versions of "Periodic Table of the Elements / Tableau périodique des éléments" (2010, and undated), two versions of "The Canadian Skies" (ca. 2009, and undated) and its French-language equivalent "Le ciel au Canada," and "Engineers: Everyday Heroes, 2001."

Source of title:

Title is based on the contents of the sub-sub-series.

Physical description note:

Volumes 591-592 include post cards, bookmarks, rulers, and a holiday card among other ephemera.

Conservation:

For preservation purposes, 7 posters were removed from their original file (no. 19-W1660-11 vol 1, pocket, in R1207 591) and rehoused separately; likewise for the "Engineers" poster (removed from file no. 19-1660-1 vol. 1, from R1207 590).

Custodial history:

Note that in some cases corporate publications and promotional materials were selected from otherwise non-archival files upon processing; where such segregation occurred, the indicator "from" preceding the file number on the outer file jacket indicates that the remainder of the file was not brought into the sub-sub-series.
