This sub-series is arranged by subject and name and chronologically within each group. Files include correspondence, notes, greetings cards etc. from and to friends and family. Most of the files of greeting cards are limited in size and contain the cards from family and friends. Some quite notable names appear, including Queen Elizabeth, George Bush Sr., Nancy Reagan, Winston Churchill (grandson of...), Ted Kennedy, Ken Taylor, Margaret Thatcher, and Boris Yeltsin. Most of the included correspondence is minimal and limited to best wishes, a few go beyond.
The correspondence records that are included with the Mila documents is but a fraction of what she would have received, but has a bit of everything; solicitations, thank yous, notes from the public, notes from friends, even a crank or two.
The board meeting files contain little of interest and are limited to reminders of meeting times, but have no briefing material or notes by Mila. The bulk of the material that is included in these records is several large, repetitive files of material on the "furniture furor", the controversy over the sale of furnishings, privately purchased by the Mulroneys, to the government when MBM left office.
The files concerning the children are primarily correspondence from them to their father, clippings and travel plans surrounding school events (starting university, parents' weekends, graduations). The correspondence is not voluminous and covers young ages up to university - though minimal it shows the close relationship between father and children.
The files that relate to Irene Mulroney are similar in nature - condolences - the titles are misleading. They all contain letters, cards, notices of masses to be said in Irene's name, cards from floral tributes, etc.
The "donations" file doesn't actually have the notes and cards that arrived with donations - they are in the "French" file. French and English are predominate in the files labelled as such, but not limited to that language. The files that simply say "passing of" seem to have more regular Canadians, or those who knew Irene, but didn't necessarily known MBM and family. Those who knew the family well seem to be in the "Donations" and "English" files.
