Item consists of a botanical illustration depicting a McIntosh apple, sliced crosswise. Inscriptions on the verso indicate that the work may have been created at the Experimental Farm in Kentville, Nova Scotia.

Dates of creation note:

The date of creation is based on an inscription, in pencil, on the verso of the work. As the support seems to have been cropped, and the descriptive of the image is in black ink, it is unsure whether the pencil inscription relates to a date other than the date of creation.

Signatures and inscriptions note:

In black ink, verso, u.c.: Corticle [?] flush in McIntosh / sliced in warehouse cellar. In pencil, u.c.: Fig. 8 Phys [cropped] / stored apples. c.c.: Kentville / 40. 6 days closed / Dec 31 [/] 37.
