The photographs in the collection captures both individual portraits and group compositions from the Frederick Roger family and his descendants families, and those in connection with the family. Between ca. 1880 and ca. 1913 the Roger family, in various iterations, travelled to the studio to have their portraits taken. Some of the photographs commemorate milestones, such as the wedding of Blair Cameron Roger (son of Frederick Roger) to Jane Baskerville, Gertrude Roger's occupation as a nurse, as well as accomplishments such as Belle Roger being a part of the 1905 YMCA basketball championship team.

The prints serve as a compliment to the collection of negatives and albums found in the Topley Studio fonds. The collection of images, accompanied by their original Topley stamped mounts, helps provide insight into the printing, mounting, and presentation of the final products purchased by Topley's clients. The photographs are original period prints created from the original glass plate negatives from the Topley studio, some of which are currently housed at LAC in the Topley Studio fonds (or similar images from the same sitting are in the Topley Studio fonds).

Additionally, there is one silhouette created from a Topley image, and one invoice for Kodak film purchased from the Topley studio.

Roger, Frederick Roger, 1846-1915 : Frederick Roger (1846-1915) moved to Canada from Perth, Scotland and married Irish-born Martha Stewart (b.1856 - d. 1934) in Ottawa, 1874. Together they had 6 children: Robert MacKenzie, Frederick, Annie Isabelle, Edith Gertrude, Blair Cameron, and John Charles. Frederick Roger (Sr.) worked for the Queen's Printer as a bookbinder and was considered to be friends with the Topley family. According to the donor, Frederick's daughter Belle (Isabelle) Roger even had the opportunity to work for Topley as a model. Of additional significance is Frederick's son Blair Cameron Roger, who attended the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1907. Blair Roger successfully established Roger's Drug Store in Ottawa's east-end (221 Echo Drive), lasting over 40 years, as well as a second location (Beechwood Ave) run by Margaret Isobelle Mackenzie Kohr. These were some of the earlier pharmacies established in the capital region. Blair Roger, with his wife Jane Baskerville Roger, and their children Frederick (Jr.), Margaret Isobelle, and Jane are featured in many of the photographs.
