Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and its predecessor Medical Research Council of Canada (MRC).

This accession includes, but is not limited to, agendas, procedures, minutes, correspondence, and briefing material created and maintained to support MRC and CIHR Council and Executive Committee meetings from 1961 to 2002.

The accession also includes files supporting grant committees, each of which represented a different research specialty, and was charged with considering applications for funding, assessing them using peer review evaluations, and dividing available funding among approved grantees. Subjects include, but are not limited to: behavioural sciences; microbiology and infectious diseases; pharmacology and toxicology; maintenance and multi-user equipment; health services evaluation and interventions research; genomics; interdisciplinary health research teams program; and health policy and systems management research.
