Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Coast Guard office situated at Port-Cartier. The records document marine incidents (wrecks, damaged ships, injuries, deaths) as well as pollution incidents fielded by the staff. Records can include inspections, reports, correspondence, legal documents and evidence of enforcement action. Photographs may be included with a case file. Note that a large number of the records are in English rather than French, presumably because the staff were operating in English with international shippers.
