This series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Correctional Service of Canada. These records contain correspondence regarding the behaviour and suitability for parole for prison inmates in Canada.

Either prior to the receipt of these records at Library and Archives Canada, or pursuant to that receipt, individuals named in these files received either a pardon or record suspension for their criminal offenses. Accordingly, under the terms of the Criminal Records Act, it has become necessary to segregate these records. According to the Criminal Records Act, access to these records may normally only be granted by the Minister of Public Safety.
