NATIONAL PRESS THEATREAccession:2013-0041Media:VideoPart:1 of 1Production date:2010-09-02Description:News conference by Assembly of First Nations British Columbia Regional Chief Jody Wilson-Raybould and other First Nations leaders from British Columbia, including Xeni Gwet'in Chief Marilyn Baptiste, British Columbia First Nations Summit Grand Chief Ed John and Stuart Phillip, the Grand Chief of the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs. They speak about the proposed Prosperity Mine at Teztan Biny (Fish Lake) in British Columbia, south of Prince George. A Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency report dated 2 July 2010 found that the proposed mine would do significant and irreparable harm to the environment and First Nations rights. The project calls for the draining of Teztan Biny to create a tailings pond for toxic waste from the mine. This area is a traditional fishery and ceremonial site that has sustained generations of the First Nation communities of the Tsilhqot'in Nation. <46mn>Language:English / FrançaisNotes:Detailed holdings information: -
