This work is part of a group of sketches drawn by the artist Joe Rosenthal in 1975, at the Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana) Parade. It depicts a spectator with an Afro wearing a Shirt tied in front, who is watching the Parade. The 1975 theme was: "A Compendium of Games." The popular annual festival, begun in 1967 celebrates the music, dance, food and elaborate costumes of Jamaica, Guyana, the Bahamas, Brazil and other participating cultures. Toronto's Grand Parade is the largest Caribbean Parade in North America.
